Prayer Request…

Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2

I am very bad off, lower physically and emotionally than I have ever been. I know that I still am, but thanks to prayer and spiritual intervention, have had a bit of a breakthrough. I know I still face the same worsening issues I did before, but I am asking for help. I am doing my best to lean. It is not easy for me.

Brian stabbed himself in the hand, deep and sideways, and as he’s healing it’s looking like he may have nerve and/or tendon damage. He’ll get his stitches out on the 18th and they’ll see if they want to send him to an orthopedic surgeon. The house is showing the neglect from him being taken out of commission, and it’s killing me to not be able to be there for him in the same way that he’s always there for me. I’m also having to be much more independent, and some of it is just not possible anymore.

I am unable to read my own body anymore. At all, it’s official. I do NOT have a UTI, which is good news, but that means that it is just my Primary Lateral Sclerosis is going downhill. And that is NOT good news. I no longer know when to see doctors, and if I do go in, there is less and less they can do to help me.

The 2nd nerve pain pill they tried me on has turned on me. It wasn’t helping at all after a week, then I started with a reaction and had to discontinue it. No news yet on what’s next.

My faith does not feel faltered, but I am so, so tired and the battles are fiercer than ever.

It feels like everything is just so bad, all at once, it’s so overwhelming. Will you please pray for all of us?

  1. Thank you for living your faith. I am encouraged and am praying for you and your family.

  2. Shelly – I am holding you close and holding you UP to the throne where our loving God is embracing you. I pray you can “feel” that embrace but if not – “knowing” He is is the truth we each hold onto.

    Much love,

  3. Shelly, so sorry to read this latest from you and to hear your heart as you share. I’m holding on to the promise God gave me that “He is never overwhelmed”, even when we are. We may not be close enough to help tangibly, but we can all pray and what a privilege it is to pray for oneanother.

May God carry you and your family as you rest in His loving arms.
    Blessings,
    Fiona

  4. Shelly, so sad about you having such a hard time. More difficult than your already extremely difficult days. Know that it’s hard to ask for help but you have done exactly what you needed to do by asking all of us to pray for you guys. Consider it done! Will pray without ceasing today for all that you need. Would do it anyway but it’s the least I can do for the lady who has written daily devotionals that have been such a huge part of my life. Not only have they helped me in a tremendous way to deal with my chronic pain and illness but even more importantly they’ve brought me closer to God again. Sure that I’m not the only one that feels this way. So thank you and many Prayers going up to our Almighty God in your behalf.
    Blessings!

  5. Sending prayers for healing, favor, provision, renewed strength, peace, hope and joy – for you and yours, Shelly. May you be blessed abundantly, as much and more, and in every way possible – as you are such a blessing and inspiration to others. Thank you for following your calling and sharing your faith and walk through life with our Lord. I love your blogs/devotionals – you are truly gifted to inspire, and it does myself and others good to be able to lift those who are faithful in their calling, up to our Savior who can bring peace that transceds all understanding.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
May you experience relief soon ~

  6. Father God, thank you for Shelly and her blog and her willingness to share her faith as she goes through these trials that are so challenging to bear. It is so hard, Lord, not to be able to step in and care for those that have so willingly taken care of us. I pray, today Lord, that you ease the burdens shared here, whether by divine intervention, or through the hands and words of others. Wrap your loving arms around Shelly. Help her to abide in your loving presence. Thank you that we are all your family and that we can pray for one another and encourage one another. Bring peace, a peace beyond all understanding, in the midst of pain. In you name, Lord, I can and do ask, Amen

  7. Dear Shelly,
I just saw this. My devotional emails haven’t been going to the right place.
I will pray for you and Brian, and Robert will too. You are doing all you can do. So is Brian.
Lord, please help us see the unseen. What we see is temporary. Thankyou that you have this dear family in your unseen hand…lovingly protecting them.
Please heal Brian’s hand perfectly. Please place your tenderness on Shellys body.
    In Jesus Name, Amen
