Fix My Eyes

My eyes are always on the Lord,
for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. – Psalm 25:15

A brain condition has stolen my peripheral vision. I haven’t been able to see my periphery for about 5 years now. It’s off and on, but mostly off.

This has taken my ability to drive. It has robbed me of the ability to enjoy scenic views. It has made me less confident of my surroundings, and I’m often scared when people approach me quickly from the side, because I can’t see them coming.

Now let me tell you what the loss of peripheral vision has done for me.

I wrote this post for my family over at Rest Ministries.
I hope while you’re there, you’ll see the wonderful things this site has to offer.
May you be blessed, as I have been, by their friendship.

  1. Hi Shelly- oh I think it would be hard to loose so much of your site- I depend so much on seeing birds and other sights out of my window to remind me of the Father’s Love, but I can see from your writing that you see with the eyes of your spirit into the things of God,and when our eyes are upon Him, the thinks of earth grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and Grace,
Praying for many such deep revelations for you that you might, like Paul, count all loss as gain, and know yourself to be richer than many of us who cast our eyes upon the things of earth.

    Heart Hugs dear Shelly.

    • You always know what to say to bring a smile to my face and heart, Mary! Love you! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3

  2. Such a popular tool of the enemy is to take our focus off of our Heavenly Father and put them on issues, circumstances and other things that steal our hope, joy and attention.

I’ve been “legally blind” since I can remember but with glasses and contacts I can see. without them – I can see shapes, outlines – sometimes.

Thanks for all you do to encourage those that struggle and need to be reminded that they are not alone – as well as renewed….daily.

    hugs
