The Red Letters

This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

– Jeremiah 31:33-34

Carissa got a new Bible last week. She adores it. As she was showing me all the wonderful traits of this new treasure, she found the words in red.

She said, “Look, Mama, everything Jesus said is red! Look how much He says on this page!!”

Stopped me cold.

He’s still writing. He’s bleeding red onto all of our hearts. He’s scribbling Hope as quickly as His fingers will fly. Think back on the hardest times you’ve experienced, Dear Ones. Now look for the red.

He’s there. He’s writing. It’s always a love letter. He’s constantly wooing.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”
“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” – John 14:1-7

Father God, we love ALL of Your words. Thank You for constantly reminding us of Your deep and abiding love. It’s all we need, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

  1. Oh, those precious words! My husband, son, and I were just talking about this the other day. To think that we have, in our possession, the very words that were uttered by The Word! Praise His name! And, another thing….if you dig, and if you seek Him, you can and will find a solution to every, single problem in your life or that you will ever face IN RED LETTERS. I am finding this to be true more and more as I go along in my Christian journey.
