But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. |
I know, I know. I’m as surprised to find me in this space as you are, though I must admit it’s a giddy sort of surprise. I made a new pact with God, to write as often as He gives me words… again. And oh how the words are pouring into my heart and mind. My fingers can barely keep up.
And such peace creeps in as I write… it’s supernatural and beautiful and it feels perfect and right.
The Lord laid a big “One Word” on my heart this year. I tried to tell Him that I had laid down writing. Remember, Lord? He remembered. That lopsided grin He wore as He repeated my One Word to me… over and over and over again into my stubborn heart… that grin said He remembered, alright.
My One Word is Savor.
Savor: taste and enjoy completely
There’s a lot to savor as I work hard to regain what has been lost for so long, physically. I savor the blessings, I really do.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
– Psalm 34:8
But the other definition of Savor is what really captured my imagination.
Savor: a characteristic taste, flavor, or smell, especially a pleasant one
This is what we are to God. Our prayers, our faith, our testimony… our lives. He savors us. Did you know?
And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
– Revelation 5:8
And so, as we enter into this new year, my prayer is that we will Savor. But it is also that we will live in such a way as to be Savored.
Spreading His perfume everywhere.
Yes, Lord. May it ever be. In Your precious name, Amen… and Amen.
