This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
As Christians, we get to live a new life. So exciting!
As people who live with chronic illness, we have to live a new life. Not exciting. Not even the least bit fun.
Actually, it’s more like a shipwreck.
Have you ever noticed the beauty that can be found on a shipwreck?
It can take years, but a haven is created. New life is found peeking out from every inch.
It doesn’t take away from the tragedy or the loss, but somehow the movement and the colors bring home the fact that there still remains a plan.
And we’re still a vital part of it.
Holy King, thank You for the beauty that can be found in the midst of our brokenness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

Shelly what a beautiful way to think of chronic illness. It is a new life and after 3years for me I need to think of the gifts that have been given. Yes I lost my old life but my new life has given me people I would have never know. Thank you Shelly.
This is a beautiful post, and a great reminder that God can work beauty in even the most difficult circumstances. I loved the pictures you included too- they are stunning. (Visiting from Tell His Story)

“Ever noticed the beauty that can be found in a shipwreck?” – love this thought Shelly.
May you continue to find new things of beauty in your current circumstances.

Dear Shelly, I’m a shipwreck…I can see it now in a new way. Beauty from ashes sort of!!!
Your devotionals are from Jesus….love you
Shelly, do you see it? There is much beauty in ashes, and oil of joy for mourning, a spirit of praise for a spirit of heaviness. I have learned so much in my many years of chronic illness. And we would not have known each other at all if we were healthy; I know for sure I would not have as many dear sisters if I were healthy. Through this life Jesus walks beside us, His Spirit within us. Afterwards we are taken to glory!
The pain is hard-so hard, yes. But if we keep our eyes on Jesus, He is with us.
Love you sweet sister, Katji
