Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. – Colossians 3:1-3
* Sigh * It’s that time of year again. We’ve rolled around to a “fresh beginning”, another “start”… almost like someone hit the reset button, for everyone but me.
Soon I’ll be seeing the ads about making a “new you”. New diets, new hairdos, new wardrobe. A fresh set of resolutions to help me be better in the coming year.
When all I want is the “old me” back. All I want is a chance at my old level of energy. I long for my old way of life. I miss the old me. She was vibrant, fun and full of life. She laughed at resolutions.
What makes us humans so eager for a do-over? We love the look of a fresh clean slate. A newly fallen snow before anyone has walked in it. We want that new beginning.
I’ve been talking with God a lot about new beginnings as the New Year approaches.
And do you know the Word I keep receiving from Him?
Perspective.
As I look back over my recent blogs…
As I read over blogs that are yet to be posted…
As I read blogs written by people I have never met…
In dreams…
In conversations with close friends and family…
The word keeps echoing in every canyon I pass through.
Perspective.
I hear you, Lord. I’m open. Teach me, Grow me, Lead me.
But most of all, God, in this coming year….
Never stop loving me.
Dear God, I follow YOU and You alone into this coming year. Lead me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

I truly just love how He speaks to us. I look forward to seeing what He does with this word for you in 2014.
Much love,

Hi Beth! <3 I can't wait to see what He teaches me about Perspective, and you about Joy! May your new year be filled with HIM <3 Heart Hugs, Shelly
Thanks for sharing your post on Thankful Thursday. I see 2014 as a new beginning of sorts, but it’s come out of a place of pain. In many ways it is good to move forward, but I would give anything to have the old way of life back – some parts of it anyway. All I can do, though, is move forward and see if I can figure out who it is that God wants me to be now.

I pray for you and your family daily, Sarah. Praying that God will give exactly what you need this year to heal and rest. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Shelly, I often pray for God to give me His perspective on things (because my perspective is so skewed). Love that you chose this as your word and am looking forward to seeing how God develops this in your heart.
Thanks for linking up to Thought-Provoking Thursday!
Thanks for being on the journey with me, Lyli! I can’t wait to see all that He teaches me this year. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I am feeling out of step, too. No new me either. However, I am learning each day to appreciate this day that I’ve been given. God is good and can do amazing things that some times I miss when I’m not careful to look for.

Yes, Shelly, Him and Him alone. I pray that God would give you that new perspective. And that you would find rest and relief in Him alone. Bless you and thanks for sharing at Circles Of Faith. Happy New Year!

Thank you for your prayers, Elise! I pray that your New Year is filled with blessings. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Shelly, I look forward to seeing how He uses this word in your life in 2014. I often find it far too easy to let my focus shift and have to remind myself to change my perspective. Many blessings to you in this new year.
