You light a lamp for me.
The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness. – Psalm 18:28
Oh, Lord, I am weary from wick trimming and match striking. I’m out of oil and out of steam and fresh out of hope.
It is dark and I am weary.
It is cold and I am afraid.
The LORD is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? – Psalm 27:1
Can You see me here, crouched and wary? Can You hear the cries and whimpers that eek from my heart? I am here, and it feels like I’ve been here forever.
I don’t want to be here anymore.
For you are the fountain of life,
the light by which we see. – Psalm 36:9
I can see from the promises in Your word, Father, that I don’t have to keep going on this way. I don’t have to find my own light or my own path. I don’t have to suffer in silence or cringe and cower here in the cold.
Light a lamp for me, Lord.
Light up my darkness.
I am coming.
This is the message we heard from Jesusand now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. – 1 John 1:5
Lord, I am tired of cowering here. I am weary from fear. Thank You for the light that is You. No darkness at all. Yes, please. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

Psalm 27:1 is my most favorite scripture. With his “light” and his “Salvation” move out’a my way there’s nothing to fear. With his strength no matter how weak we are or what monstrocity is facing us…we don’t have to be afraid. Beautiful post my friend!

Thank you, Cathy! Hope your weekend is a bright one! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
so thankful for the lamp the Lord has lit for me – often I just need to open my eyes and see the light that he has already given!
Oh, yes, I have many of those eye opening moments, too, Kym! He is so loving and faithful. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Shelly- we thank God for David, don’t we- and his absolute honesty- and how he always reigns in his mind and returns his thoughts to the God of his salvation.
I love this quote from Max Lucado yesterday: Whatever we may have to go through now is less than nothing compared with the magnificent future God has planned for us. — Romans 8:18
What is coming will make sense of what is happening.
Let God finish His work. Let the composer complete His symphony. The forecast is simple.
Good days. Bad days. But God is in all days. He is the Lord of the famine and the feast, and He uses both to accomplish His will.

Amen and amen! Love that, Mary! I’m praying for your recovery and return to health! Heart Hugs <3
Shelly, this made me think of this verse, “In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” When I’m weary or afraid, it always brings comfort to me to know He hears my cries and He comes before me to comfort me…and then it doesn’t feel so dark anymore. He gives me hope…always hope. (I hope that all made sense.) I’m always so moved by your faithfulness to Him. You are an inspiration to me friend. Love you so much. Happy Mother’s Day.
Oh, Beth, what a sweet verse to share with me today! I love the way He always is so tender with us! Your friendship is a balm to my spirit. I love you! Happy Mother’s Day! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
