Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession; He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house. For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. – Hebrews 3:2
Ok, so I don’t know much about entertaining or crafts or decorating. I wish I did, but I have come to accept that it’s just not in me… unless you count the hours spent longingly gazing at Pinterest photos of said talents. But one thing I do know… every party table has to have just the right centerpiece!
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, there’s lots of talk about how to find the perfect centerpiece. Many are making their own, and for the rest of the week, new photos will be popping up all over social media as people share their latest creation or find regarding that all-important eye-catcher.
A centerpiece is defined as:
an object occupying a central position
or
one that is of central importance or interest in a larger whole
or my favorite,
the most important part of something.
Have you ever noticed in scripture how many times that Jesus has been in the center?
He was in the center of the court with the adulterous woman. (John 8:9)
He was in the center of the crowd during the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. (Matthew 21:9)
His cross was in the center, between the two thieves. (Luke 23:33)
He is the lamb in the center of the throne. (Revelation 7:17)
I challenge you today, amidst the flurry of preparation, please consider that Jesus is the true Centerpiece. Of life…
of the story…
of your Thanksgiving table.
Jesus, please help us to keep you front and center this holiday, and everyday! We love You, Lord, and wish to honor You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

Lovely centrepiece and I love that Jesus is the centre of our lives. Enjoyed your post, we are all talented in many ways but we don’t have to be talented in everything.

Oh, how right you are. I had never really thought about Jesus being the centerpiece in each story–just the main character. Thanks for giving me a new perspective on our Savior. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Kasey
So happy to meet you, Kasey! You have a very blessed Thanksgiving, as well! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Shelly, this is a good word. So lovely to “meet you” through Melissa’s link up today. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🙂
Lyli, so glad you stopped by! You have a wonderful Thanksgiving, as well! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Great challenge Shelly! You have reminded us to be mindful of what is the centre of our thoughts and hearts as much as the visual things.
Thanks so much for sharing at Essential Fridays.

Sheila, so nice to have you stop by! Nice to meet you! 🙂 Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I love this reminder Shelly! Our family opens our home often as a part of the life of our church plant. Hospitality has been a key ministry in growing our church and reaching others. I always spend time thinking about a center piece, but now I will think about it differently! I’m pinning this on my hospitality pinboard! Thank you for linking up with me at Wednesday in the Word!

Melissa, from regularly reading your blog, I have no doubt that Christ is your centerpiece, which I’m certain is why your church planting takes root. It’s an honor to link up at your party every week, thanks for the opportunity! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Oh what a great message and reminder! I’m so glad to be catching up with those who linked up for Three Word Wednesday today and for not missing this post! Timing is perfect too as I spent yesterday trying to come up with a centerpiece for my kitchen table. I’m not good at this either but ended up deciding on a single candle (with a bit of decorating around it). Until reading your post, I was kindof feeling I should have done more. But your words really hit me…it’s all about making Him the center of everything. Last night with the candle shining I took time to be with Him and my weary heart began to find peace again. I think I’m rambling, but REALLY loved and needed this today.
So glad to have you join us for Three Word Wednesday. I hope you will continue to join this writing family every week.
Blessings to you.
Beth
Beth, I so appreciate your visit! Your comment just delighted me! I could picture your candle lit and you sitting with our Lord at your table. Sometimes the simplicity can make His greatness even more majestic! I’ll definitely be linking back up each week, and hope you’ll join us each Saturday for Recommendation Saturday! Shelly, I had never heard the song before. So what I needed to listen to this morning. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed the song Joanne! It’s one of my favorite reminders 🙂 Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
If it hadn’t been so overly heavy, we would have used a big round stone as our Thanksgiving table centerpiece. Now, for the Christmas season, we have a simple wreath arrangement of four Advent candles there. But you tell of the best centerpiece of all! May He be central to all we do, think, and say this month! Thanks for these insights about Jesus “in the midst.”

Hi, Sylvia! Your centerpiece sounds lovely for Advent! Thanks for your sweet comment today. 🙂 Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
What a beautiful image, Shelly! To remember that Jesus is the centerpiece of everything in our lives. And what a blessing that we don’t have to be crafty to have him at the center of our lives, we just have to invite him in. I love this post and really appreciate you linking up to Testimony Tuesday. Have a blessed day, friend!

May Jesus always be our centerpiece. I too am not a craft person, and my narrow table did not offer room for a centerpiece, so I printed Ann V”s leaves with the scriptures and cut each one out. They were sprinkled over my table here and there. My company enjoyed reading the one’s near them. Thank you for sharing with us here at “Tell Me a Story.”
