Recommendation Saturday: Your Own Skin

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.  May God give you more and more grace and peace. – 1 Peter 1:2

You already know that even Christ was made “unbecoming”.  (Isaiah 53:2)
You already know that God looks at the heart.  (1 Samuel 16:7)
You already know that your gentle spirit is what gives you beauty.   (1 Peter 3:4)

But know this.

We were not made for this world.  (2 Corinthians 5:1)
To spend all of our time and efforts here conforming these earthly vessels into an impossible standard of warped beauty is to defy all that God has called us to.

You are beautiful.  You are amazing.  You are enough.

If you don’t believe me, then please believe Him.  He’s the expert on You, after all.

And He did write the book.

  1. Shelly, I had seen that video & thought it was mind boggling as we do not think about this when we are looking at those magazines at the checkout lines. May we truly come to embrace who we are in & through Christ. And although I have never met you in person, you are beautiful because you bare your heart here with every post to bless us every day! Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Oh Shelly; some of my favorite verses! The beauty of being able to celebrate and love ourselves is that it enables us to do what we can, with what we have, where we are, and just be enough! We can start with spreading our joyful spirit and smiling as often as we can, live our life with a purpose, utilize our full potential, and rejoice in who God made us to be.

Blessings sweet sister; have a joyful weekend!

  6. Cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I started reading the Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee and he starts off on this topic of the blood of Christ, that there’s nothing we can do to earn our right place with God. That is sometimes hard to accept but it is the message God is sending me today. I’m going to meditate on this verse.

Shelly- your first scripture is a blessing because God and I are working on being able to maintain peace no matter what life throws at me- so I have copied this into my journal- especially glad for : God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy.
