When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. – Ephesians 3:14-17
Life is like that, isn’t it?
One minute, we’re making vacation memories,
the next minute we’re swallowed up.
How do we survive?
We don’t know. It’s unprecedented.
Help is coming. You were saved by an old tree.
Don’t fret through the miracle.
Breathe deep and hold on.
God provides.
We are best when we are community.
I would love to share in some of that community
right here from my website.

Shelly, I came to this posting of yours after reading in my “new” copy of “Streams in the Desert” ( compliments of Outside the City Gates!
It’s message today runs parallel to what you have shared so I always take note when this kind of offering happens.
Here are a few excerpts for your encouragement – or anyone else who wanders onto your wonderful site! 🙂
from Streams in the Desert
“Shining is always costly. Light comes only at the cost of that which produces it. . . .
We are apt to feel that we are doing the greatest good in the world when we are strong, and able for active duty, and when the heart and hands are full of kindly service.
When we are called aside and can only suffer; when we are sick; when we are consumed with pain; when all our activities have been dropped, we feel that we are no longer of use, that we are not doing anything.
But, if we are patient and submissive, it is almost certain that we are a greater blessing to the world in our time of suffering and pain than we were in the days when we thought we were doing the most of our work. We are burning now, and shining because we are burning.”
