The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand. – Psalm 37:23-24

The details. Have you ever heard that “the devil’s in the details”? It means there’s a catch hidden somewhere.
But I don’t buy that. It’s actually God who’s in the details.
How that perfect song comes on in just that short drive I have with the radio on. When my friend reaches out for encouragement about the exact thing I’ve been needing encouragement with. The day that article ends up in my inbox. The night that phone call comes out of the blue and answers a prayer.
Every feather and twig that make up a bird’s nest were supplied by Him. Every flake of pollen the bees use to create delicious honey… God led them to that flower.
Each minute that I was running late that kept me from that accident turned out to be His timing. Each day I was delayed in posting the words someone needed on a particular day in the future was actually His will.
God is in the details. Every single messy one. Every uncomfortable, painful, miniscule thing that frustrates and distracts and hurts us are being gathered to include in His orchestra. And when we get the final result… really get it… it will awe us.
There are so many details we’re completely unaware of, I can’t help but have my breath taken away. Can you imagine the pains He’s sheltered you from today? Do you glimpse the bitty blessings that have His fingerprints all over them? Do you hear the strains of His glorious melody as He directs and conducts and creates?
I don’t quite know the tune by heart yet, but it sounds an awful lot like…. Love.
Holy Lord, Thank You for not only caring but for delving right into our messy details. Help me to pay attention. Help me to learn the song by heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

What a beautiful depiction of the God of the details. This was exactly what I needed today! Sitting hear reading this post was a divine apppointment before I really jump into my big pile of not so beautiful details that sit in front of me today. Thank you also for the perfect song. —Great encouragement! In the future I hope we can talk. Do you have free minutes? I do. 🙂

I just love how God is always able to get us the word we need, Cathy! I would LOVE to talk with you! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Hi Shelly,
We have emailed a couple times about bladder pain. I had a question about what else besides the azo, bkg soda worked to help with the pain. I want so much to have joy in the midst of pain. Today my college aged son saw me in bed at 10:30 in the morning, which hardly ever happens with me. I’m always up early. I told him that I have to rest because of the pain, since I have to take my mom to dr today. He told me he would pray for me. I know you are very busy with your ministry, two children and a husband!
God bless you,
Love Linda Holleman
Linda, I hope I am never too busy for you! I’ve been remiss in the email department lately. I will email you today. Love you, and am praying for you! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
HI Shelly! Sounds like we are on the same wavelength this week. God does his work, and we aren’t told what the end result will be…but he is in every detail. Nice flip on an old saying! It is amazing when we finally do see that end product, isn’t it? And then I’m supposed to shout it from the rooftops like King David in his psalms!
I am not sure how many times the Lord saves me from trouble today, but I am sure glad he does. Left on my own, I would come up with some major mayhem I’m sure!
Thank you for your visit yesterday, it was so nice to see you 🙂

I love the “shout it from the rooftops” part! That’s my fave. 🙂 I read all of your posts, Ceil, but I’m bad about commenting. You always inspire me. Thank you for blessing me with your visit today! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I just love how you give GOD all the glory for all the details of our lives being woven together for good.
Sometimes it’s tempting to give the enemy kudos he does not deserve.
More and more, I am refusing to acknowledge him at all, and like you- giving my whole focus to God, who certainly deserves it!
Love you, and love the way you put things so beautifully.
Love you, Mary! It always does my heart good to see you here. Can’t wait till we can hug in heaven! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Oh yes, He is! I can’t tell you how many times I know beyond a doubt that an annoying delay was His way of keeping me safe. He cares about every detail that touches our lives. Thanks so much for linking up to Testimony Tuesday!
