As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend. – Proverbs 27:17
I’m molten
and laid on the anvil.
Each hammer strike
breaks me down.
Each dip into the waters
created by my sadness
adds a layer of strength.
Slowly
I am being honed.
Bent beneath the blows,
but shaped into something
of great use and value.
Maker’s sweat
sizzles as it meets my submissive places.
The message
of my undoing
rings with each swing.
Joyful dirges.
Sorrow that creates.
This sharpening
that proves
You call me “friend”.
God in Heaven, thank You for this beautiful pain that draws me closer to You. Thank You for making me new. Keep pounding, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

It’s a good one, isn’t it, Jen? Love you. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Honing is hard Shelly, but the reminder that He calls us friend and hones us to make us more like Him. It is AMAZING! Blessings!

It really is amazing, Deb. I remind myself often. 🙂 Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I absolutely love the line that the “Maker’s sweat sizzles as it meets my submissive places”. Wow! I know that He produces a lot of sweat on me as He works hard to teach me and mold me. It is a never-ending process. Beautiful words! Blessings!

Oh, yes, Mary, He sweats over me for sure! LOL Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Wow! This is really powerful, Shelly. Everything that happens in our lives has a purpose and we can count on God to use everything for our good! The work on the anvil can be painful, but the result is beautiful!
Love you, Joan

You are so brave- submitting to the molding process takes huge self-will- knowing the pain will be worthwhile in the end…what a role model you are for us all dear Shelly.
No way, Mary. I am oh-so-broken. The only role model you need is Jesus Christ. Love you. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I literally “felt” this post — the words that come to my mind after reading it are “released” and “renewed.”

Whew! How I hate the pain…but love what God does in and through it, and in and through me because of it. Thanks for sharing this post at Testimony Tuesday!
