So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.

On any given day, if you ask me how I’m doing I’ll probably answer with some version of “hanging in here.”
The other day my sweet friend came back with an answer that made me think of this passage.
“Your arms get tired from all that hanging,” she replied.
Indeed they do. They really do.
But our God is a God of details, remember? It was no accident that Aaron and Hur climbed that hill with Moses. God knew they’d be needed.
He knew you’d be needed in my life, as well.
Not that I’m Moses, by any means, but we all need a little help sometimes to keep going, don’t we? To keep hanging on?
You make that possible.
So thank you, each of you, who hold my arms up when they get heavy. Who drag over a rock for me to sit on. Who ensure the victory.
You’re doing exactly what God intended for you to do, and you’re amazing at it.
Heavenly Father, You are simply an astounding provider. Thank You for each heart reading this, and their willingness to do their part. In Jesus’ Name, Amen…

I’ve been asking people to share with me how they have been encouraged in trials as well as ways that they wish people helped when they needed it. I’m glad to read your post to be reminded of Moses’ arms being held up. I love this example of God using His people to help strengthen others & to fulfill His purposes. Blessings!

It’s a beautiful picture of both the giver and the receiver. Sometimes I think those of us who need help are more reticent to receive it than the givers ever are to give it. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
It is so amazing what God knows about us and that He knows our needs even before we do. He loves us so much. I love this post because it reminds me just how much.

Shelly- I am always quoting that story of Moses, Aaron and Hur- and I agree with you that God sets others on the path beside us so that when one gets weary, others can help hold them up. I guess as we remember Jesus walking to Golgotha this week- he also had Simon the Cyrene to help carry his cross.
We need each other, indeed we do~!
Heart Hugs dear one.
What a great reminder of Simon the Cyrene. Thank you, Mary! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
So thankful you are feeling encouraged! We all need those who can come around us and strengthen us when we are feeling week. Have a blessed Easter.
You, too, Barbie! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Hi Shelly,
Yes, we certainly do need one another. God knows what we need, and He designed us to work in unity with one another, helping and encouraging each other on our journeys. We are family 🙂
We are, and it’s a beautiful thing, Anita. I’m so glad you’re my Sister. Love you. Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
Stopping by from the fmfsnailmailparty link up.
I love that passage of scripture. My usual role is holding up other people and i have struggled in the past to allow those around me to hold me up. In the past 2 years I lost it. All that self reliance just went out the window when the hardest things hit. I miss the old me a lot to be honest. Relying on other people is a real bummer when they let you down. Its over the moon when they are there for you. That’s the risk we take in giving and receiving love. Oh praise The Lord that our God is always faithful Thank you for sharing your journey. May you always be surrounded by His loving arms.
