Recommendation Saturday: We Have Mislabeled the Glimpse
And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them,“Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them. – Mark 10:13-16
Sometimes we can glimpse God right here in this world.
Don’t try to change them. Just love them.
They are showing you Him, pointing the way to deeper, better.
He can hear more than others, because He’s inside of us.
We are best when we are community.
I would love to share in some of that community

Is It Difficult for You to Need and Accept Help?

photo credit: Adam Foster | Codefor via photopin cc
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” (Matthew 25:40)
Chalk it up to pride. Call it stubborn. Maybe willful.
However you choose to describe it, one of the most difficult aspects of chronic illness and disability is the necessity of accepting help.
Ouch.
No one wants to be “the least of these.”
I hope you’ll hop on over to Rest Ministries to
finish reading today.
See you there!

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)
He doesn’t need your hands. He doesn’t need your feet. Are you feeling relief yet? I know mine don’t have much to give Him.He doesn’t need your to-do list or your full calendar. He doesn’t need your pocketbook. Whew, right?
Rest Ministries has the rest of this devotional.

Sunday Scripture: 8/17/14

photo credit: Jhong Dizon | Photography via photopin cc
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.
– Luke 6:38
You cannot give what you don’t have.
Just give what you have.
God has things for you that you cannot imagine.
Trust Him. Be a part of the joy.
Generosity begets generosity. It’s the nature of Jesus Christ.

Sunday Scripture: 8/10/14

Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me.
Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me.
For troubles surround me—
too many to count!
My sins pile up so high
I can’t see my way out.
They outnumber the hairs on my head.
I have lost all courage.
Please, Lord, rescue me!
Come quickly, Lord, and help me.

Recommendation Saturday: A Celebration & A Giveaway! EEKK!!
Rise up, O Lord, in all your power.
With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.
– Psalm 21:13
If you had told me when I (somewhat reluctantly and under duress) started this little blog, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would write every day for a year. Wow.
Yes, it’s been 1 year since the start of Renewed Daily!!
Truly, like the Psalmist, I must say, with music and singing we will celebrate Your mighty acts! This could not have been done… not one word written, not one friendship bloomed, not one ounce of good accomplished… without God’s mighty hand over it all.
Will you pray with me that the words keep coming?
That they continue to be from God?
That the ones who need to read them will somehow
find their way here?
I am having my very first-ever giveaway in honor of this anniversary.
I’m so excited about it!!!!!
Just enter below for chances to win!
Here’s what I’m giving away:

Are You Trusting in Feet of Clay?
The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay. While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. – Daniel 2:32-34

Have you ever heard the saying, “He has feet of clay”? It originates from the scripture above. Basically, what it means is that someone is untrustworthy or cannot be depended on.
Our heroes, they have heads of pure gold, silver chests and arms, and bellies and thighs of bronze. Beautiful to look at and seemingly unbreakable. So bright in the sunlight, we have to shield our eyes from their splendor.
But all it takes is one stone aimed at those feet of clay to bring it all crashing down.
I wrote this post for my family over at Rest Ministries.
