In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. – John 1:1-5

The very same eyes that gazed on the rainbow throne blinked sleepily up into Mary’s as she nursed Him.

The very same fingers that measured the breadth of the behemoth grasped Joseph’s as He stared in quiet wonder at the miracle his wife had brought into the world.

The very same ears that heard the first promise to Abraham, listened with rapt attention as his mother sang his first lullaby.

All that glory, all that deity, in one tiny swaddled bundle of pure joy. All that promise, all that fulfillment, in one lusty cry that pierced the night.

Our King became a babe. Our Lord took on flesh. Our God reached down to save the world.
